When the Prime Minister (David Cameron) and Chancellor of the Exchequer (George Osborne) visited the North West to discuss their plans and visions for a more prosperous North they had probably not expected to be taking a little bit of Bury culture back to Downing Street with them.
During a two day visit where the pair spoke, amongst other subjects, about the crucial role of the North West in the UK success story, the pair attended a special event to meet local campaigners and candidates for this years elections. Following the evening event at the Village Hotel they were presented with a special piece of Bury Heritage in the form of the World Famous Bury Black Pudding.
A representative from the Bury Black Pudding Company said: "It is always a pleasure to be able to present visiting dignitaries with our products, but this was especially significant. With our company developing so rapidly, our recent expansion and our move into overseas markets, we feel we are a prime example of the drive and ambition that the North West brings to the UK manufacturing scene."
"The Bury Black Pudding Co. is the only company actually based in Bury to produce the famous dish and we are proud to be able to say that what began just 12 years ago as with a market stall and a 100 year old recipe has grown into a multi-national brand. We hope that the Prime Minister and Chancellor enjoy their Bury Black Pudding and that it reminds them of how much the North West has to offer."
